Looking for an exciting, educational and affordable experience for your children this summer? Search no further than the Summer Reading Club at the Benjamin Children’s Library located in Matnas Meyerhoff. Once again, the Library is offering fun, creative and original programming in order to encourage reading, while also providing hands-on activities that help the reading material “come to life.”
During many of the highly successful programs from past summers, children have explored and delved into subjects ranging from photography to fine arts and science. Those who participated were treated to informative and stimulating sessions which served to help them better understand and appreciate the reading they had completed at home. The response from all attendees has always been extremely enthusiastic and appreciative.
As always, the library wishes to encourage and facilitate reading as much as possible throughout the entire summer. The Reading Club takes place on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, and therefore, the library will also be available for borrowing books on Mondays, unlike during the regular school year. The library (which is air conditioned!) wants to ensure that children will have easy and convenient access to books all summer long.
While the Summer Reading Club is offered to children ages gan-chova – sixth grade, there are also opportunities for older children to volunteer at the library during the summer. Teens who wish to assist with the Reading Club or volunteer with shelving books are requested to come to the library for a training session. Details will be announced soon.
Here’s to a wonderful and memorable summer of reading and fun!
