December 7, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. Netflix mini-series – The Queen’s Gambit

Please join us for a discussion of the Netflix mini-series, The Queen’s Gambit. This is a Netflix presentation that was declared the greatest success of the year and one of the few shows to receive a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Since we have yet to discover a successful means of showing films during these crazy Corona days, we thought we would have participants watch a selected show at home and convene on Zoom to discuss it. Netflix seems to be the most popular venue, so this program was selected accordingly.

The Queen’s Gambit is an American coming-of-age period drama miniseries based on Walter Tevis’ 1983 novel of the same name. Set in the 1960s, the series stars Anya Taylor-Joy as an orphaned chess prodigy on her rise to becoming the world’s greatest chess player while navigating issues of emotional attachment and drug addiction stemming from her childhood.

Once again, we will have to limit our Zoom participation to 25 devices (more than one person can be on any particular device). To indicate your interest in participating, please email benjaminchildrenslibrary@gmail.com.

A few days before the meeting, we will send out an invitation to reserve one of these places on our Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent out within 24 hours of the meeting.

Our Book and Film Club is open to all interested adults in the area.  All meetings and materials are in English.  The meetings will be held on the second Monday of each month, unless otherwise indicated. View full schedule here. When are discussing a book, the meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. When we watch a film, the meeting will start at 7:15 p.m.

A 10 NIS donation is requested when films are shown.
