Library Services

Overview

The Benjamin Children’s Library has approximately 30,000 titles primarily for readers from preschool through high school and beyond. The collection includes books in English, Hebrew and Russian, book-tapes, audio tapes, magazines and reference books. The library also includes a toddler corner containing board books, scarves, puppets and a puppet theater.

Membership

Each membership entitles the borrowing of four items at a time. Each family may take out one or more yearly memberships.
First membership:        NIS 100
Second membership:  NIS 80
Third membership:       NIS 60
Fourth membership:    NIS 40

Borrowing Policies

Materials are loaned for one month. They may be renewed or reserved in the library or by phone at 991-8499 during library hours.  Materials may be renewed up to three times, unless a request has been made for them by another member.

Fines and Fees

Overdue materials: NIS 3 per month or part of month for each item. Maximum NIS 75 per family.

Loss or damage: NIS 45 per item

Printing from computers: NIS .50 per black and white page.  NIS 1.00 minimum for color page, depending on amount of color used.
Members may not borrow additional materials if there are outstanding debts.

Reference Services

The reference section is located in the gallery of the library.  Reference services are geared towards elementary and high school students. The reference room is open during library hours. 

Internet and Scanning

The Benjamin Children's Library provides Internet access and a scanner for members' use for school work and research only (no chatting or games). Use of these services depends on staffing and availability.  It is advisable to coordinate in advance at the front desk or by phone.
